UPDATED FOR RESULTS …

Thursday, August 9, 2012 (10:30pm (EST)  On the whole, it was ladies Team Night for the Red, White and Blue!  Big congratulations to each Team USA’s Women Soccer and Water Polo, both of which brought home the gold in their respective sports!

Good day for Women’s team sports! In Tae Kwon Do, Men’s Featherweight Class, American Terrence Jennings pulled out an exciting bronze medal decided on a last kick challenge which he won and awarded him the deciding three points for a head kick. In the Men’s Decathlon, current World Recordholder, Ashton Eaton (USA), won the gold while teammate, Trey Hardee, pulled the silver! In the Volleyball Semifinals, Team USA’s women defeated South Korea 3-0 and advanced to the gold medal match against Brazil.

Thursday, August 9, 2012 An interesting for team USA with Claressa Shields taking the first ever gold medal in Women’s Boxing Middleweight and Marlen Esparza taking the bronze in the Flyweight. Over on triple jump, Americans Christian Taylor and Will Claye took gold and silver but the real impressive feat of the day was that the Jamaicans swept the entire Men’s 200m with Usain Bolt taking gold, Yohan Blake, silver, and Warren Weir, bronze. In Women’s Swimming Open Water, American Haley Anderson pulled a silver medal but has a Warning next to her name in the results; I’ll try to figure out what that means for the final update. In basketball, Women’s USA beat AUS 86-73. The Soccer final is still going on as are some track & field events; all to be updated later tonight! In the medal count, at midday, USA has opened up an 11 medal lead and is now ahead of China in total gold by 2.

Thursday, August 9, 2012 Lucky Day 13. Lets see what luck it brings Team USA. Five medals are up in Track & Field along with a host of Men’s Decathlon events throughout the day. We also have the 3 lightweight classes of Women’s Boxing medal events and more Tae Kwon Do and Canoe/Kayak. Back in the gym, Rhythm Gymnastics begins today so, that’ll be fun and we’ll be rooting for lone American, Julie Zetlin. In Sailing, the Men’s 470 medal race is today and Team USA actually has a team in contention, a rarity in sailing these days. Over on the soccer pitch, USA’s women go for gold against Team Japan. In Swimming, Women’s Open Water, American Haley Anderson tries to bring it home. Certain sports are not being televised; in such a case, we have directed you to NBC’s live web streaming service.
