UPDATED FOR RESULTS …

Tuesday, August 7, 2012, 8:30pm (EST)   A better day for TYeam USA than yesterday but not nearly as good as the high days of swimming medals one after the other.  In gymnastics, Team USA member, Aly Raisman was able to squeak out a bronze in the Women’s Balance Beam following a tiebreaker but teammate, and All Around Gold Medal Winner, Gabby Douglas continued her individual apparatus with a 7th place finish.  Meanwhile, over on the Floor Exercise, Aly pulled the Gold while Teammate Jordyn Wieber finished in 7th place. All said and done, and I think you have to say that this was not Wieber’s time to shine at the Olympics, especially with Raisman accomplishing so much more overall.  On the Men’s side, Leyva and Horton fared as well as Wieber and Douglas placing an anemic 5th and 6th in the Horizontal Bar.  Elsewhere, Team USA had a good day with Walsh Jennings and May-Treanor winning their semifinal beach volleyball match, Women’s Water Polo defeating Australia 11-9 in their semifinal match, and USA’s Women’s Basketball team easily besting Team Canada in their semifinal match. On the track, American Leo Manzano took home the silver while teammate, Matt Centrowitz, missed out on bronze by 0.04.  In the Women’s 100m Hurdles, America just missed its chance to sweep the medals when Lolo Jones came in 4th by 0.10. Her two teammates, Dawn Harper and Kellie Wells, finished with silver and bronze, respectively. if it makes them feeler better, Sally Pearson (AUS) won the race with a new Olympic Record. In the Men’s High Jump, three bronze medals were awarded and American Erik Kynard took home the silver. His two teammates did not medal. Some pictures below!

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 Today is the final day of gymnastics at these games and in the Women’s Floor Exercise, Jordyn Wieber and Aly Raisman both get another chance for gold in these games while teammates Danell Leyva and Jonathan Horton compete in the Men’s Horizontal Bar. In the Women’s Balance Beam, Gabby Douglas tries to redeem her horrendous placement in yesterday’s Uneven Bars and Aly Raisman tries to medal in her second event of the day. Out on the track, three Ameruican will try to medal in the Men’s High Jump (Erik Kynard, Jesse Williams and Jamie Nieto) while Matt Centrowitz and Leo Manzano try to place in the Men’s 1500m distance run. The Women’s 100m Hurdels are tomorrow tonight with heats during the day and expect to see all three American women (Lolo Jones, Dawn Harper and Kellie Wells) make it through semis into the finals. Certain sports are not being televised; in such a case, we have directed you to NBC’s live web streaming service.
