1. TV Tonight! Perception and Warehouse 13 are TV Watcher’s highlights tonight but there is also some good preseason football as well as the season finale of Bunheads! Also, MTV premieres its buzzy The Inbetweeners at 10:30.
- NBC has new Stars Earn Stripes (fast-roping from a helicopter onto an eight-story building) at 9 and Grimm (Nick and his mother battle the Mauvais Dentes; details about Juliette’s illness are revealed) at 10.
- Fox has new Hotel Hell (Ramsay tries to help the inexperienced owners of The Cambridge Hotel turn their business around) at 8 and Hell’s Kitchen (5 chefs left) at 9.
- ABC has new Bachelor Pad starting at 8 (a teacup challenge) followed by the season finale of The Glass House at 10.
- The CW has new Remodeled at 9.
- On cable, TNT has the second episode of Major Crimes at 9 followed by the newly renewed Perception at 10; ESPN has NFL Preseason Football (Philadelphia Eagles at New England Patriots) from 8-11; A&E kicks ass with Intervention at 9 and Beyond Scared Straight at 10; the first mini season finale of Bunheads is on ABC Family at 9; E! has a new Opening Act at 9 (with Brad Paisley); MTV has new Ridiculousness at 10 and the series premiere of the buzzy, The Inbetweeners, at 10:30; and SyFy has new Alphas at 8 and Warehouse 13 at 9.
2. The Passing of Tony Scott. Famed filmmaker (and TV executive producer), Anthony “Tony” Scott has died at the age of 68 by apparent suicide. Mr. Scott is said to have jumped to his death off of a bridge in San Pedro, California. Mr. Scott was may be best known for directing the 1986 Tom Cruise classic, Top Gun but has been attached to many well known movies over the last 25 years including directing: Beverly Hills Cop II, Days of Thunder, The Last Boy Scout, True Romance, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Man on Fire, The Taking of Pelham 123; producing: The A-Team, Unstoppable and a credit on this year’s Prometheus and executive producing television shows including The Good Wife, Numbers and the upcoming mini series, Coma. The immediate outpouring of Hollywood mourning has been overwhelming.
