1. TV Tonight! Slow night so honor some teachers or watch some football!
- CBS honors teachers in Teachers Rock (Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Fun and Josh Groban perform) at 8.
- NBC has a new Dateline NBC at 10.
- Fox has NFL Preseason Football (Detroit Lions at Baltimore Ravens) from 8-11.
- ABC has a two hour 20/20 starting at 9.
- On cable, Discovery has two hours of Gold Rush at 9 and 10; HBO begins a new season of Real Time with Bill Maher at 10; and Starz begins season 2 of Kelsey Grammar as the Boss at 9.
2. Casting News! Its Mance Rayder yo! Ciarán Hinds (Bud on Political Animals) will be playing the King Beyond the Wall in Season 3 of Game of Thrones! Take that Takeda! Revenge has recast Amandily’s Japanese mentor with actor, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Hiro Nashimori on Hawaii Five-0). Nick Jonas out! Raising Hope has recast the part previously played by the Jonas brother with Jordan Masterson (Greek) since it’ll be a larger role next year. In other Raising Hope news, THR has it that Chris Klein (former Katie Holmes flame) has booked a guest star role on the Fox comedy for next season.
