1.  The Voice, I mean The Choice – Of course I didn’t watch!  But I did hear a radio promo for it that was so ridiculous, I had to sound-off about it. Lights!  Chairs that twirl!  People judged only by their voices!  Celebrities!  Sounds like The Voice, right?  It was all sounding interesting until the promo listed the celebrities.  Rob Kardashian!  Pauly D!  Joe Jonas!  (Glass shattering!  Nails on a chalkboard!  Record scratching!)  These are celebrities?  Are you f***ing kidding me?!?!  Let’s review.  Rob Kardashian, what has he done?  Honestly, I run the other way when I hear or see the name Kardashian, so I have no idea.  Pauly D? JerseyShore, right?  Isn’t he trying to star in some other MTV reality show?  Really people, you should have just gotten Boston Rob from Survivor/Survivor/Amazing Race. These guys aren’t celebrities, they’re reality TV show whores!  And Joe Jonas.  Washed up Disney Channel kid.  Better than the other two, but really, who cares!

Cat Deeley, the only upside of this "Choice" (Fox)

2.  Necessary Roughness – After all that negativity, I am going to bow down to the gods  of “not really network” TV.  Thank you USA!  Not only do I enjoy most of what’s on offer this summer, but I just watched the season premiere of Necessary Roughness.  It’s a good show, but the previews for this season, I could kiss somebody.  Why you ask?  Because the TV gods are returning Smash to my TV, and he’s playing football!  Yes, we all got to see Gaius Charles when he was on Pan Am (you will be missed!), but getting to see the awesome Smash play football again, is just awesome.  AWESOME.  And that is how summer TV is done, people!

Summertime means USA Network Time!

3.  Mad Men – Last night was the season finale and I haven’t watched it yet, although I will soon.  But I would like to comment on the craziness of the past few episodes.  Peggy is gone.  To Shaw’s firm, no less.  She has to come back, right?  Joan is now a partner (SCDPH?) and poor Lane is gone.  But really gone.  The poor guy committed suicide by hanging himself in his office after the stupid Jaguar that his stupid wife bought for him failed to start and kill him.  Oy, poor Don.  Not a typo.  Faced with the embezzlement where Lane forged his signature for $8,000, Don suggested that Lane take the weekend and come up with an elegant way to exit.  I don’t think suicide was what Don had in mind.  What a trip this season has been.  I’ll have more on this next week.

It All Falls Apart ...

4.  This week brings the return of Suits and Burn Notice, and USA gets better and better.  Thank goodness for that!
