Happy Weekend! Let’s wrap this up and enjoy the sunshine! Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter (@OnMyDVR) and Like us on Facebook!
1. TV Tonight! Lots of returns and premieres this weekend …
- CBS continues with the Sweet Sixteen round in 2012 NCAA Basketball Tournament all night. Games also on TBS.
- NBC has new Who Do You Think You Are? (Helen Hunt) at 8.
- Fox is all new with Kitchen Nightmares at 8 and the Spring return of Fringe at 9!
- ABC is all new with Shark Tank at 8, Primetime: What Would You Do? at 9 and 20/20 at 10.
- CW has new Nikita and Supernatural.
- On cable, Discovery continues to eek out “after the show” shows of Gold Rush at 9 and Bering Sea Gold at 10; USA has new Fairly Legal at 9 and In Plain Sight at 10; TLC has two new episodes of Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta at 9 and My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding at 10; SyFy has part one of the Merlin season finale at 10; and NatGeo has a special at that is probably fascinating, Only for God: Inside Hasidism.
2. TV Sunday! Almost all new all night!
- CBS bring a new night of The Amazing Race, The Good Wife and CSI: Miami.
- NBC has new Harry’s Law at 8 and two hours of Celebrity Apprentice starting at 9.
- Fox only has new Bob’s Burgers at 8:30 and American Dad at 9:30.
- ABC is the place to be with new Once Upon a Time, Desperate Housewives and GCB.
- On cable, Discovery puts forth a great night of Frozen Planet at 8, the season premiere of Mythbusters at 9 and Unchained Reaction at 10; AMC has the must see show of the night with the two hour season premiere of Mad Men, starting at 9; HBO concludes Luck at 9; and TLC premieres the new seasons of Long Island Medium at 9 and Leave it to Niecy at 10.
3. Show Renewals, Returns and Pick Ups! NBC, in a desperate attempt to feel like it has a hit that it can exploit forever, has renewed Smash for a season 2 although the creator, Theresa Rebeck, has stepped down as showrunner (Vote of confidence? I’d say not!). What can they possibly hope to wring out of this show for a second season? And I like the show, really, but c’mon! The Real Housewives of New Jersey will return for a fourth season on April 22 so mark your calendars! Will Charles be in Charge, again?
4. Casting and News for Pilots! The super hot (don’t judge me!) Alyssa Milano has been added to the cast of the ABC drama pilot, Mistresses (which snagged LOST alum Yunjin Kim earlier this week), which isn’t scheduled to air until 2013. Hugh Dancy (The Big C) has been cast as a lead in the NBC drama pilot, Hannibal. Jennifer Beals (The L Word) has been cast in the CBS drama pilot, Widow Detective (and really CBS, that title is horrible), which cast John Corbett as its male lead earlier this week. Maggie Grace (LOST) has been cast in the still untitled Fox drama pilot which will star Kevin Bacon as a semi-retired FBI Profiler. Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) will guest star on an upcoming episode of Desperate Housewives, as Gabby’s new employer. Ms. Roberts is a hot property recently with her having booked a pilot for the fall, Counter Culture.
5. Old Show News. In a second Burn Notice news installment this week, the show confirmed that Lauren Stamile will reprise her role as Michael’s handler, Agent Pearce, in multiple episodes this upcoming season. Redheaded LOST hottie, Rebecca Mader, has been cast as a multi-episode guest star in upcoming Fringe episodes.
